Today we are back for our regular meeting concerning the treasures of Reignac.
Chateau de Reignac has many treasures, this one is very special for us as it has been designed by the great Gustave Eiffel.
Actually, it’s important to know that Eiffel did not only designed the Eiffel Tower, world symbol for Paris, he also did a lot of work in our beautiful region, the South-West of France. His first construction was the bridge that links the two banks of Bordeaux, while he was only 26. Among all his artworks, we find the Reignac’s greenhouse.
Located in the center of the park, between the vineyards and the tasting tower, the fully renovated greenhouse is wonderful. In 2015, the Château won the Best Of Wine Tourism “Architecture and Landscape” award and this was partly thanks to the greenhouse!
During the winter season, our greenhouse offers a safe place for our lemon trees and other plants, keeping them protected from the frost. As soon as the nature wakes up, Reignac’s gardener prepares our newly herbs and vegetable plants that grew peacefully in the coziness of our greenhouse, waiting to be replanted in our garden. It creates ideal green settings for picnic basket lunch in the heart of our enchanted garden.
If you come to visit, you’ll have the opportunity to take a closer look at this jewel which we have the chance to admire during our scent garden tour.
