Vintage 2014

2014 began with an extremely gentle winter that incited an early awake-up of the vines. The rather dry spring and the very hot June guaranteed a harmonious development of the vineyard; at this stage the development of the vines was very similar to vintage 2010.The flowering took place in very good conditions.

The arrival of the cold summer countered the balance and placed the vineyard in a high growing state. Nevertheless we had a qualitative ripening. It was the autumn and the implementation of the incredible Indian summer associated with Reignac’s microclimate (very moderate pluviometry during the big September thunderstorms) who allowed us to wait until the desired maturity. We have never had the chance to take so much time to harvest our Merlots at their optimum maturity.

The harvest began on September 29th and ended on October 28th. The skins of the last Merlots became thinner at the end of October when we harvested them. Just like the Cabernet, harvested at their best maturity. After the first tastings; we already know that our cellars hold treasures.
